85K Writing Challenge Reaches the End of Its First 60-Day Edit Cycle. Now what?

You did it! You crossed the finish line.

Midnight on June 30, 2017 – the official end of the 60-Day Edit cycle and our quest to edit the novels we wrote during the 90-Day Write cycle (January – March). How does it feel? I hope it feels AWESOME. You set a goal, set aside time to edit, sat down, and got to work.

Great job, writers. You rock.

Time to announce your achievements.

I did it! I edited my novel in 60 days on the 85K Writing Challenge 60-Day Edit. #85K90 Click To Tweet

Didn’t quite finish? Then it’s time to forge ahead during July’s 30-Day Finish cycle.

So now what? What happens next?

Well, for starters, we take a break. July is a 30-Day Finish month. Time to relax, refresh, and get ready for the next production cycle: the 60-Day Prep, scheduled for August and September, a time to tend to all of the “extras” that go into living the writer’s life: building a platform, attending conferences, establishing a marketing plan.

Not quite finished editing your novel? No worries. Take July to finish. That’s what the 30-Day Finish cycle is for. And a lot can happen in 30 days. Entire novels have been written. Surely, they’ve been edited in that amount of time, too.

So stay focused and stay committed. You still have an extra 30 days (technically, July has 31 days) to add to the 60 (technically, 61) you’ve already completed during the 60-Day Edit. So set a schedule. Report to the page. Finish the edit of your novel.

It’s that simple. FINISH.

What happens on this website during July’s 30-Day Finish cycle?

Truthfully, not much.

We won’t be posting much of anything on the website during July. It’s truly a month to finish, recharge, and relax.

Behind the scenes, we will be making a few adjustments . . .

  • IMAGE: 60-Day Prep LogoSince January, our program logos and colors have changed from BLUE (during the January – March 90-Day Write cycle) to GRAY (during the April 30-Day Finish cycle) to RED (during the May – June 60-Day Edit cycle) and then to GRAY again (during the July 30-Day Finish cycle). Soon, our colors will be ORANGE (during the August – September 60-Day Prep cycle).
  • We’ll be making a few changes to the appearance and functionality of the website and forum.
  • We’ll be accepting submissions for content for the 60-Day Prep cycle (see below).
  • Our Project Tracker (powered by our Corporate Sponsor, WriterStat, and WriterStat BookStats™) will undergo some exciting updates.

Speaking of WriterStat, would you be so kind and either craft your own tweet or share this tweet thanking them? We’re so fortunate to have this tool at our fingertips and now’s a great time to say thank you. Here’s a link to WrtrStat on Twitter: @WrtrStat

Hard to believe we’ve reached the end of the 60-Day Edit and our quest to edit our novels in 60 days on the 85K Writing Challenge . . .

Time flies when you’re having fun.

Pencils ready? Let’s do this thing.

  1. My goodness, your own “relaxing and refreshing” 30 days sound packed-full of website tasks. Thank you for this incredible community you’re building. I hope your own project(s) are progressing as you’d hoped…
