Want to learn more about the 85K Writing Challenge? Awesome.

Commonly asked questions:

Q: Why 85,000 words?

A: The average length of an adult novel is 85,000 words.

Q: Why choose January through March for the writing challenge?

A: The spirit of the New Year strengthens the resolve to write. It’s winter in the Northern Hemisphere, a good time to “hunker down” to focus on a large project. There are no major holidays in the first quarter of the calendar year to compete with writing time. Ninety days gives you plenty of time to complete a rough draft should life interrupt. And here’s a bonus: April is a 30-Day Finish month. If you don’t finish your novel by March 31, spend time in April finishing up, or, get a jumpstart on editing before the 60-Day Edit begins on May 1.
